I’ve been enjoying manipulating more photos and playing with the deterioration in quality. Pixels, the makeup of photos in a digital age, highlight how even digital attempts to keep memories safe and preserved aren’t impervious. It’s a short issue, but I’ve been really enjoying pixelating photos and showing the finished manipulated photos to loved ones and watching them recognize the photos despite how heavily pixelated and censored they are. I think that’s fascinating.
This issue is a blend of some of my favorite pixilated photos, personal anecdotes and poetry, as well as inspiration from music that has been watering the roots of this project.
